Campaign Priority #1: Restore Democracy
It is quite important for both elected members and constituents to have a voice towards the decisions made on all of our behalf, and indeed is the point we have elections at all.

Campaign Priority #2: Take Back Control of Council
At present it is Council staff that run the shop, and that isn’t right. They will always find ways to spend more of your money not always wisely, and it is up to your elected members to step in and behave like adults to represent your best interests.

Campaign Priority #3: Cap Rates to Inflation
Capping rates to inflation seems like a pipe dream to some, but I say we simply haven’t been trying hard enough and there is enough slack in the system to make it happen. In fact, it is imperative to happen for this town to even be sustainable for residents to carry on living here.

In addition, I had no hesitation to signing the below Ratepayer Protection Pledge put out by the Taxpayer’s Union. But my question is: why aren’t more candidates signing?
