Welcome. This is not a neutral space.
I’m Duncan Campbell— elected councillor in 2022 for Taupō District.
But this site isn’t about politics.
It’s about truth when it’s uncomfortable, transparency when it’s inconvenient, and accountability when no one else wants it.
Why this site exists:
Because I’ve learned something the hard way:
Governance is only as strong as the dissent it permits.
And right now, dissent is being dulled into silence.
This space is here to:
- Speak plainly where others obscure
- Show you what’s actually happening inside council
- Equip you to question, decide, and act—on your own terms
I’m not here to play nice in the political sandbox.
I didn’t seek this role, the role sought me – and I don’t enjoy being there very often.
My background is in engineering – not speeches and playground diplomacy games, but systems and problem solving. If I see something is broken, I just try to understand and fix it (Here’s what I do).
Council is a system with cracks, some big cracks
I intend to name them, and when needed—expose them.
